Create your UIN, or Tax Identification Number, is an essential step for anyone who wants to stay compliant with tax regulations in Cameroon.
This unique identification number is now mandatory for various administrative and financial procedures, such as opening a bank account, setting up an ENEO electricity line, or getting a free VISA bank card with Neero Cameroon — the first 100% digital bank in the country.
Once you have created your NIU, you will not only be able to meet your tax obligations, but also access financial services and complete several public service procedures. In this article, we show you how to create your NIU in Cameroon in a few simple steps — or recover it if you’ve lost it.
Since April 2025, the process of obtaining a NIU is done entirely online through the official portal of the Directorate General of Taxation: teledeclaration-dgi.cm.
Why you need to create your UIN in 2025
1. Access the official platform

- Visit https://teledeclaration-dgi.cm
- Click on I am not yet registered
2. Select your tax status

- If you are registering for yourself, choose “Individual (non-professional)”.
If it’s for a professional activity, select the option that best describes your situation. - Click on Continue
3. Fill in your personal information

All individual taxpayers, whether professional or non-professional, are required to provide this identification information

At this stage, only professional individuals are required to provide additional information such as their tax number and banking details

All individual taxpayers, whether professional or non-professional, must provide their address information
4. Validate and submit your application
- Click on Save
- A confirmation message will appear with your automatically generated UIN and password. Please make sure to keep both your password and NIU safe.

Once your Tax Identification Number (UIN) has been created, you’re ready to move on to the next step: ordering your Neero Virtual Visa Card.
